Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Death Mountain Crater in Unreal Engine 4 is so hot
You've already seen what the Temple of Time would look like 20 years and 30 trillion polygons and shader effects later. Now prolific Unreal Engine artiste CryZENx has given the same treatment to some of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's more exotic locales, including the Death Mountain Crater.
The level geometry is pretty simple, as it was in the N64 version, but those shimmering embers and heat waves lend it an impressive new ambience. Normally Child Link would start burning alive as soon as he entered Death Mountain Crater, but it looks like he's got a child-size Goron Tunic here, so he's fine. But you'd better cool off in the frozen Zora Domain before you get heat stroke.
I'm really excited to see the new world of The Legend of Zelda for Wii U when it comes out later this year, but until then I'll gladly indulge in a few beautified nostalgia trips.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
