Zelda: Breath of the Wild's first DLC pack has some pretty useful new items, here's what they do

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets its first paid DLC pack on Friday, June 30 and we have the details on how all of the new items will help your quest. Even if the extra-tough new difficulty mode and Trials of the Sword challenge rooms haven't grabbed your attention, you'll definitely want to check out the useful (and in many cases familiar) goodies Link can find.

All of these items can be found in chests scattered across Hyrule once the update goes live, assuming you've purchased the Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass. Get hunting!

Majora's Mask

Original game: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Put this mask on and enemies like Bokoblins, Moblins, and Stalfos won't be hostile (at least initially). Don't expect it to work on bigger threats like Hynox or Lynels, though. It also glows in the dark and looks really creepy, just like when Skull Kid wore it back in the day. Hopefully it won't possess you.

Tingle's Outfit

Original game: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Well, this isn't going to help Tingle's reputation as a creeper. Don the hood, tights, and shirt of Tingle and you'll receive the "Night Speed Up" set bonus. I was kind of hoping it would make Octo Balloons last longer or have more lift instead, but oh well.

Midna's Helmet

Original game: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Equip Midna's Helmet and you'll receive the "Guardian Resist Up" buff, which should come in handy for those Test of Strength shrines - not to mention your final assault on Hyrule Castle. No, it doesn't come with a Wolf Link friend, you'll still need to tap an Amiibo for that.

Phantom Armor

Original game: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Sorry, this armor doesn't make you invulnerable from frontal attacks like in Phantom Hourglass. What it does do is give you an Attack Power set bonus. It also looks like it will have pretty good defense, since it's a frickin' giant suit of plate mail.

Korok Mask

Original game: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Haven't managed to find all 900 (yes seriously, there are 900) Koroks yet? Me neither. Equipping this mask will help us out: just slap this big ol' leaf on Link's face and it will start to shake whenever a Korok is hidden nearby. Yahaha.

Travel Medallion

New item

Once you find the Travel Medallion, you can use it to set your current location as a fast travel point. Only one custom point may be registered at a time but just imagine all the potential uses for it, from super-fast arrow resupply runs to revisiting distant areas that are rich in ore.

Connor Sheridan

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
