Has Zack Snyder inspired Ben Affleck to direct a solo Batman movie?

We're going to be seeing a lot of Ben Affleck's Batman on screen in the next couple years; first there is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in a couple months time, which will quickly be followed by Suicide Squad later this year and Justice League: Part One in 2017. However, rumours of a solo Batman movie franchise - and whether or not Affleck would direct said film - have been swirling for a while now, with the actor/director repeatedly stating that he's open to the possibility.

The question was recently posed to Affleck once again by USA Today, and while his status quo hasn't changed, he did have some nice things to say about his superhero director: "Going through the process, I would never have imagined that I could or would direct a movie like this. And in working with [Zack Snyder] and seeing what he did and watching him every day, I got really inspired by that and by seeing the scope on which he was telling the story, by seeing what he was able to do with this kind of mythic story on a grand scale".

Having directed Argo to Best Picture glory at the Oscars in 2013 - not to mention other strong efforts like Gone Baby Gone or The Town - Affleck has sufficiently proven his directing pedigree. With that said, if he were to accept the gig calling the shots on a big superhero blockbuster would definitely be a new challenge for him. We'll put this one under wait and see...

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
