Zac Efron to turn action hero
Heads to Eastern Europe
The Bourne Legacy ’s new hero may have a bit of competition on his hands – Zac Efron has just signed on to become a continent-hopping action star.
The former High School Musical crooner has been drafted in to star in an untitled romantic action film over at Mandate Pictures.
Written by Matt Drake ( Project X ), the script was originally titled The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman and made 2007's Blacklist– but that title now seems to have been dropped.
Probably because Efron’s last (critically mauled) film also had ‘death’ and ‘Charlie’ in the title ( The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud ).
The plot follows a suburban kid (Efron) who travels to Eastern Europe on a quest for self-discovery. There, he meets an alluring young woman – but he’ll have to fight her dangerous criminal ex if he wants her.
Swedish director Fredrik Bond will make his feature directorial debut with the film, having helmed a variety of ads for big brands.
