You're not a real fan
Think you're a hardcore? These extreme gamers will make you question your loyalty and devotion
Honestly, you kind of suck too
We all like to think we’re really good at games. But no matter how much you pepper everything you type with numbers and symbols you’ll probably never really be ‘teh 1337sauce.’ True champions use their gaming skills to win fabulous cash prizes and earn themselves product endorsements.
It doesn’t matter what shooter you’re playing. It doesn’t matter if you’ve memorized every map. It doesn’t even matter where you live. Chances are that Jonathan Wendel (better known as Fatal1ty) can kick your ass so bad you’ll curl into the fetal position and quit playing out of shame. The professional gamer has earned over $500,000 in cash prizes from fragging the competition at gaming events around the world and used his hard-earned loot to start his own company, which sells just about everything from designer motherboards to headsets.
Above: Fatal1ty recommends exercise and math to kids interested in becoming a pro gamer. You don’t have to look like this to be truly 1337 after all
Think you’ve got the skills to pay the real-life bills? Try these tips straight from Fatal1ty himself in an interview onThe Reboot:
“…playing sports is definitely very healthy for you. I work out, running two/three miles a day. It helps my stamina in the game. It helps my neural fitness and my neural transmitters so I can think faster and increase my hand eye coordination and reflexes.”
“Having good math skills will also help you a lot in gaming.”
