Xbox Series X controller and accessory compatibility
Which accessories still work with the Xbox Series X and S?
Xbox Series X controller and accessory compatibility means some of your older Xbox One accessories will still work with your new Xbox Series X. That means you absolutely shouldn't get rid of your older Xbox Wireless Controllers, headsets, and rechargeable battery packs, especially since they aren't exactly cheap and will stoll work perfectly fine with your Xbox Series X. Saving money with a good Xbox Series X deal is great and this accessory compatibility will help you save even more too. Here's everything you need to know about Xbox Series X controller and accessory compatibility.
Can I use my old controllers and accessories with Xbox Series X and S?
Yes, almost all Xbox One controllers and accessories will be compatible with the Xbox Series X and S. Bear in mind that the new Xbox Series X and S controller has a USB-C connection rather than micro-USB, so you'll need to use a different charging cable for each of them where applicable. Also remember that the new controller has the convenient Xbox Share button, so you'll still have to use the alternate inputs for capturing screenshots and clips if you're using an older controller. Otherwise, hang on to your older Xbox controllers, especially if they're still in good working order and not suffering from stick drift issues or similar.
Furthermore, battery packs that were designed for Xbox One controllers, such as the Xbox Play & Charge Kit, are also compatible with the new Xbox Series X and S controller. However, due to a small difference in size between the units, if the battery pack doesn't fit correctly then don't force it as damage may occur, and it should instead be replaced.
Can I use a Bluetooth headset with Xbox Series X and S
No, general Bluetooth headsets, such as Apple Air Pods, are not compatible with the Xbox Series X or S. If you want to use a headset for gaming on your new Xbox, you will need to connect either a wired headset, or a wireless headset that has been specifically designed or adapted to work with the Xbox Series X and S.
