X-Men: Apocalypse will be "true birth of the X-Men"
Bryan Singer has been speaking to Entertainment Weekly about X-Men: Apocalypse, and has said that the forthcoming instalment will chronicle the "true birth of the X-Men".
"This is kind of a conclusion of six X-Men films," says Singer, "yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer characters." That will be a reference to the younger incarnations of Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler, to be played by Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Kodi Smit-McPhee respectively.
"This is the true birth of the X-Men," continues Singer. "This is how it happens." Sounds like in the movie timeline, it will be the advent of Apocalypse that truly establishes Xavier's proteges as a fully-fledged team. No doubt Magneto will be playing both sides against the middle, as usual… Directed by Singer and co-starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, X-Men: Apocalypse will open in the UK on 19 May 2016 and the US eight days later.
