Woody loves Barcelona
Allen announces his first Spanish-set film
Woody Allen loves Barcelona. And the city apparently loves him back. Let’s hope he doesn’t get nervous and end up shagging Venice or something equally weird.
Stretched metaphors aside, Allen has firmly decided that, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Barcelona will follow Manhattan and England as his next muse. He’s planning his summer film in the city, and will start shooting on the ninth.
“I hope I can present Barcelona to the world as I see it, the same way I presented Manhattan to the world as I saw it with my eyes,” the director blabbed at his press conference. “I want to write a love letter to Barcelona and from Barcelona to the world.”
Naturally, the title and subject of the film are strict subjects, but while we already know that Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are already aboard, they’ll be joined by Patricia Clarkson, Kevin Dunn and Chris Messina.
