Wonder Woman 2 will return with director Patty Jenkins and a modern setting (no WW2 follow-up)
Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins plan to return to the DC Expanded Universe with sequel Wonder Woman 2 set in the modern day. The news comes via a profile by The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that the director (otherwise known for 2003's Monster) has a lot more to show us about Diana of Themyscira.
Wonder Woman takes place during the first World War, while Batman v Superman (in which the character had her first cinematic appearance) has a contemporary setting. Sounds like the time hopping is over for now; chronologically speaking, the Wonder Woman sequel will likely follow on from Batman vs. Superman and Justice League, which is set to debut in November.
Assuming Wonder Woman does well (the film has a 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a good sign), Jenkins says she's ready to return along with Gadot. Until then, Jenkins told THR that she might direct a limited TV series, potentially starring Steve Trevor actor Chris Pine.
"What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies," Jenkins said. "I don't care about that at all. I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be a $200 million movie."

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
