Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus launch trailer finally answers that pesky "where's Hitler?" question
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus isn't coming out until October 27, but you won't have to wait a moment longer to watch the launch trailer. Bethesda and MachineGames published the minute-and-a-half long video today to whet the world's appetite for another round of forcible Nazi extraction techniques. The video also addresses how series star BJ Blazkowicz deals with gun-toting klansmen and - spoiler alert - it's pretty much the same way he deals with Nazis.
The trailer begins with some of the alternate-history pop culture that MachineGames seems to take such perverse joy in envisioning, in this case via a TV show entitled "German… Or Else!" The American Resistance that BJ belongs to intrudes into the signal, pleading with the people to remember the terrors visited upon them by their Nazi occupiers and to help cast them out. Violently.
Crucially, this trailer also has an unexpected cameo from History's Actual Greatest Monster. Wolfenstein: The New Order peripherally addressed Adolf Hitler via a few newspaper clippings and stuff like that, but for some reason he stayed out of the public eye. At the end of the trailer we see him shuffling and coughing into an office that appears to have been staged for a televised interview. Maybe with his regime facing its first significant, global opposition in years, Hitler ends his seclusion to reassert his dominance?
Hey, whatever narrative justification needs to happen to let me kill Mecha-Hitler with a shotgun at the end of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, I'm cool with it. Here's hoping!

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
