The Witcher 3 dev says Cyberpunk 2077 will be 'far, far bigger'

The Witcher 3 is still sitting in unfinished piles around the world - not because it isn't good, just because there's a whole lot to play. For everyone still working their way up to the ending, I have some good and/or bad news: Cyberpunk 2077, the next game from CD Projekt Red, is going to be even bigger.

CDPR visual effects artist Jose Teixeira told MCV that the sci-fi RPG will be "far, far bigger" than anything else the studio has worked on before. That partially explains why CDPR hasn't had much to say about Cyberpunk 2077 since it first announced the game in 2012: the studio's going out on a limb with this one.

“We're really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter,” Teixeira said. "If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it."

Still, The Witcher 3 isn't done yet. The Hearts of Stone DLC expansion is set to release on October 13, and Hearts of Wine next year. After that, CDPR will hopefully be able to double down on Cyberpunk and secure a release date sometime before its vision of a futuristic dystopia becomes non-fiction.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
