Wipeout racetrack created for quantum levitation research

Researchers at the Japan Institute of Science and Technology say they hope to revolutionize the world of motor transport with their work on quantum levitation. Inspired by the futuristic racing series Wipeout, the researchers claim to have created a real life racetrack complete with floating cars and mind bending turns.

But is it real? Unfortunately, there is no Japan Institute of Science and Technology. There is, however, a Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, a postgraduate university. But those students probably have better things to do than create meticulously accurate models of Wipeout racers and tracks.

Still, even if this video is just a viral ploy to promote Wipeout 2048for the PS Vita, it’s still pretty darn cool. Check out the YouTube video and hold on to those flying car dreams.
