Wing Commander returning on Xbox Live Arcade
16-player online bouts confirmed
Well that didn't take long. Less than 24 hours after being spotted on an ESRB website listing, Electronic Arts has officially announced the return of Wing Commander on Xbox Live Arcade.
Excitingly, our suspicions of online dogfighting have also been confirmed: Wing Commander Arena will support a massive 16-players online, in what EA is calling the largest "melee experience to date on Xbox LIVE Arcade."
As you can probably imagine, Arena has players teaming up to attack each other in fast-paced space battles. You can also customize your ship with gravity bombs and torpedoesand attempt to compete for the most frags.

"We're really excited to deliver unparalleled multi-player arcade action," said Chip Lange, EA Vice President. "The design for Wing Commander will appeal to both long-time fans of the franchise and immediately engage anyone who wants the melee style action of an arcade shooter."
Wing Commander is currently penned for lift off this summer. Get a look at the first screens by clickinghere or on the Images tab above.
