Who says there's no money to be made in the field of SF writing?
Certainly not Alastair Reynolds. He's just signed a £1 million, ten-book deal with Gollancz, the science fiction and fantasy imprint of the Orion Publishing Group. It secures his future with the company for the next decade, barring devastating asteroid collision or sudden quantum meltdown.
Reynolds first found fame with his debut novel Revelation Space, published by Gollancz in March 2000. Prior to that he was working as an astrophysicist at the European Space Research and Technology Centre in Holland. His background in physics and astronomy brings a crucial sense of verisimilitude to his epic space operas.

Reynolds’ next novel, a part-steampunk, part-Western planetary romance in the far future called Terminal World will be published in October 2009. The first book of the new ten-book deal will be published in October 2010.
