Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. One of the Avengers might be shuffling off their mortal coil if this casting call for Avengers 4 is anything to go by. Avengers: Infinity War is sure to bring the big-hitters out to play, but its sequel might need the big-sobbers. Keep those tissues handy, because you’re gonna need ‘em.
MCU Exchange has reported on a casting call from Central Georgia Casting requiring “mourners” with the Russo Brothers themselves picking and choosing who will be part of the scene. So, it’s probably going to be important:
Mourners: Looking for men and women over the age of 18, all ethnicities, to portray mourners. Especially looking for good character looks and expressive faces. This will be photo selected by the film’s directors! Size restrictions: Men no larger than 44 coat, women dress size 0-8. FOR NEW FACES ONLY! You cannot have worked on this project previously, or be booked on upcoming days. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Avengers: Infinity War, then, might end with a superhero (or two?) biting the dust in a big way once Thanos comes to town. We’ve already seen a smidgen of what the Infinity Stones can do – and there would be no better way to hammer home its power than by bumping off one of the Avengers. But who could it be?
Captain America would probably be favourite to bite the bullet. His death has been telegraphed since the inclusion of Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He not only took up the shield in the comics, his popularity on-screen is essentially a ready-made replacement. And you’re not going to do much better than Cap if you want to make a big statement going into Avengers 4.
Of course, someone like Iron Man could very well be the one to meet his end at Thanos’ hand, or even a more secondary character like Vision or Scarlet Witch. You’d think (and hope) than Spidey and the Guardians of the Galaxy will be deathproof with their franchises still going strong but, hey, stranger things have happened.
