The latest Fortnite live event is currently in progress, and as with other recent happenings in the battle royale this is proceeding as an ongoing in-game event rather than a distinct set piece to conclude the current season. Through it we've seen electrical storms trigger the giant statue at Mount Olympus into moving and summoning lightning strikes on Pandora's Box, which has in turn set into motion an incoming storm that's set to swarm the island in the near future. For a complete rundown on what's happening, here's a summary of the current live event in Fortnite.

What time is the Fortnite live event

The latest Fortnite live event began on Tuesday May 14 at 7am PDT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST with the final update of the season in progress. From that point onwards, the storm around the statue at Mount Olympus gradually got worse, triggering several lightning strikes on Pandora's Box before setting up the island for the launch of Fortnite Season 3 in Chapter 5 on Friday May 24.

In the above video clip from @ImPeQu you can see how this Fortnite live event played out, with storm clouds forming around Mount Olympus and lightning crackling across the statue to charge it and light up the eyes. As this continued, the statue raised its sword to the sky to fire a charged beam, which then struck down on Pandora's Box to fill the orb on top.

The above clip from @iFireMonkey shows the conclusion of this Fortnite live event, which took place on May 16. When the lightning struck Pandora's Box for the final time to completely fill the orb, an explosion and blast wave rippled across the island, before the orb itself bounced out to sea and starting forming the electrical sandstorm that is now growing on the horizon.

In this clip from @FN_Assist you can see how close the massive sandstorm is now getting to the battle royale island, with an orange filter effect beginning to apply as you approach it. This apparently stage 5 of 6 for the sandstorm, so it's likely to reach the coast just in time to wrap up this latest Fortnite live event and usher in the new season.
