Wes Craven returns to writing and directing
He has a new movie and a new production company, too
While Wes Craven has certainly directed several films in the last 12 years (such as Cursed, Scream and Red Eye), he hasn’t written and shot a movie since 1994’s Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.
Feeling the need to stretch both muscles at once, the horror guru has announced that he’s getting back into the writer-director game with an untitled psychological horror. "It is rooted in the supernatural with a 16-year old central character, but it's more Sixth Sense than a slasher film," Craven blabbed to Variety . "It's appalling to me that you have to go back to 1994 to find an original that I wrote and directed, so this is very important to me."
Universal’s Rogue Pictures will distribute the new movie, though Craven's also been setting up a new production company, Midnight Pictures, with the Rogue team. He plans to produce several cheap (well, Hollywood cheap, as in less than $15 million) scares.
