Weinsteins pick up Bobby
Estevez “off the chart” as his little big flick nabs distributor
Hallelujah! The plot to put Emilio Estevez back at the top of the Hollywood heap is well under way.
His gritty drama Bobby - based around the events on the day Bobby Kennedy was gunned down at the Ambassador Hotel in LA – is in the can and now has the Weinsteins’ weight behind it.
Produced by indie company Bold Films, Estevez managed to snag himself a huge roster of stars to appear as the story dips and delves into the lives of fictional characters, going about their lives on this historic day in American history.
“Bobby is one of those incredibly unique projects that gives you great insight into the zeitgeist of this time in our country's history,” said Weinstein. “It's a real credit to Estevez and Bold and their commitment to this project that it attracted such a talented cast.”
“I am off-the-charts thrilled that Bobby has found a home with The Weinstein Company,” a clearly chuffed Estevez said. “Harvey and his team at TWC are the perfect place for this and I can't imagine a better company to distribute my picture.”
Bobby is set for release later this year.
