It’s a Wonderful Afterlife
Prize for the best title we’ve heard for a while goes to Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha’s next movie, It’s a Wonderful Afterlife. According to Variety Chadha describes it as a combination of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shaun of the Dead, which sound wonderfully bizarre. The story concerns a British-Asian mother whose obsession to marry off her daughter comically leads to serial murder. “It's a comic caper very much in the tradition of classic Ealing comedies," says Chadha. "It's a return for me to the characters and setting of Bend It Like Beckham but in a different genre, namely horror, although I would say that the gore will be easy on the eye."
Battling On
Paramount has acquired the rights to upcoming graphic novel, Battling Boy, he son of a god or superhero who comes down from the top of a mountain at his father's behest in order to rid a giant city of monsters. Variety reports that Brad Pitt’s production company will produce the movie. The graphic novel, by Paul (Batman: Year 100) Pope, comes out in 2010. And if you think seem like a long time away, that’s nothing – Pope started drawing the graphic novel back in 2006!
