Watchmen legal battle sets trial
The court date is this January
The legal battle that has been slowly rumbling between 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros has just hit another milestone as the court date for the trial has been confirmed.
You’ll recall that Fox is suing Warners over rights to distribute the film as part of a 1991 claim on the graphic novel. While an injunction to stop Warners releasing the film as planned next March has been denied, the judge overseeing the case has ruled that the studios will have to argue the case in court. The date is set for 6th January, reports Variety .
The complicated legal wrangling will step up as both sides prepare to present their cases. Will it effect the actual opening date for the film? Unlikely, but we’ll have to wait until early next year to find out for sure.
