Liam Neeson narrates first trailer for A Monster Calls
This week has seen the release of a host of trailers for upcoming 2016 releases, and we're not quite done yet. We now have our first look at A Monster Calls. Directed by The Impossible's Juan Antonio Bayona, it will adapt Patrick Ness' popular 2011 fantasy novel for the big screen.
Check out the trailer below...
The trailer - which is narrated by the recognisably gravelly pipes of Liam Neeson, who will voice the monster - does a good job of outlining the film's narrative, which centres on young Conor (newcomer Lewis MacDougall) and his "attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith". The promo also gets bonus points for making good use of the Cloud Atlas score.
Directed by Bayona and starring Neeson, MacDougall, Jones, Sigourney Weaver and Toby Kebbell, A Monster Calls opens in US theatres on October 14 2016, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
