Warner keen on James Wan to helm Aquaman
Having steered Fast & Furious 7 to a staggering performance at the box office, James Wan was always likely to be a wanted man, and it seems as though Warner is keen to tempt him away from Universal. According to THR, the studio is so enamoured with the director it has him at the top of its wishlist to direct Aquaman…
According to the report, an official offer has yet to be tabled, but Wan is the studio’s first choice to helm the forthcoming superhero saga. Early talks have apparently taken place, with Wan having been sounded out over potential story directions.
Both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad have been set the task of penning individual scripts for the project, with the studio set to make a decision as to which to use. Jason Momoa is already in place in the title role, but no further casting has been announced as yet.
With Aquaman not set to hit cinemas until 27 July 2018, Warner is seemingly keen to make some early headway on this one. Fans of the character won’t have quite that long to wait to see their hero on-screen, with Momoa set to make his bow in Batman v Superman on 25 March 2016.
