Warner Brothers mark one year to The Hobbit with official synopsis release
Start counting off the days
It’s exactly one year to the day until The Hobbit arrives in UK cinemas, and to commemorate this milestone, Warner have released the film’s first official synopsis.
The studio has confirmed that the two films will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There And Back Again , and will be released on 14 December 2012 and 13 December 2013 respectively.
“Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings ,” begins the official press release, “which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King .”
“The adventure of The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.”
Nothing we didn’t know already then, but a welcome reminder of what we’ve got to look forward to this time next year. The festive season has never really felt the same since the trilogy ended, and we can’t wait to have another Christmas event movie to get our teeth into.
Start counting off the days then, as The Hobbit draws ever nearer. Perhaps a 365 door advent calendar is called for? Or maybe just re-watch the DVDs, whatever works.
