Warcraft is only the beginning - Activision working on Call of Duty movies too

Activision Blizzard announced today that it will develop a "cinematic universe" based on the Call of Duty games, as well as a Skylanders TV show called Skylanders Academy - presumably the former won't culminate in an Avengers-like team-up of XxBluntForce420xX and I360NoScopeU. These new projects are thanks to the Activision Blizzard Studios, a newly opened, Hollywood-oriented division of the publisher.

Although the Call of Duty films are still in the planning phase, Activision Blizzard has already announced the main cast and crew for Skylanders. Futurama writer Eric Rogers will act as showrunner, with Justin Long (Accepted, Dodgeball) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (Phineas & Ferb) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) as Eruptor, and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live, Billy Madison) as Glumshanks. Nick van Dyk, former Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Disney, will oversee the studio.

Those are some big names, but I'm not surprised that a company with enough capital to purchase Candy Crush studio King isn't messing around. I thought that new "The Beginning" subtitle attached to the Warcraft movie was hinting at a trilogy - now I see it may be much more than that.
