Dwayne Johnson has teased a new image from Hercules: The Thracian Wars , featuring a monochrome battlefield where all hell is about to break loose.
The new image is extremely atmospheric, hinting at something a little grander than director Brett Ratner’s usual crash-bang-wallop oeuvre.
“A fine day for battle” reads the accompanying caption, suggesting that the calm before the storm might be about to break…
The film will follow a version of Hercules (Johnson) fallen from his heroic pedestal, working as a mercenary and generally brooding on his lost honour.
However, a chance for redemption soon presents itself when an ageing king and his beautiful daughter approach Herc to deliver them from a brutal warlord. Needless to say, he doesn’t need asking twice…
Directed by Ratner and co-starring Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell and Joseph Fiennes, Hercules: The Thracian Wars will open in the UK on 25 July 2014.
