Walking Dead spinoff lands title and teaser: watch now
The Walking Dead spinoff has finally secured an official title that reinforces the main thrust of the series’ mythology: be afraid... be very afraid. Creator Robert Kirkman took to Twitter to unveil the show’s monicker that is now confirmed to be Fear The Walking Dead. Just in case you weren’t already terrified of those pesky flesh-eaters.
Dubbed a ‘companion series’ to AMC’s zombie serial mainstay, the spinoff is set to begin slightly earlier in the zombie apocalypse. And in a different location. That’s right, the show will focus on the virulent outbreak as it hits Los Angeles, and a new squad of humans battle their way through hordes of undead shufflers.
As the main series rocked out its season 5 finale last night, the network dropped the first teaser for Fear The Walking Dead. Check it out below:
It’s a very brief preview, and yet it packs in quite a bit of info concerning the show’s tone and content. As mentioned above, the show will pick up earlier in the zom-pocalypse timeline, and the DJ’s breezy voiceover warning concerning “the flu” means we might get to see the actual origins of the epidemic. Or more of its bloody repercussions....
Starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, Fear The Walking Dead is set to premiere later this year.
