Daredevil's Vincent D'Onofrio confirms he'll be back as Kingpin... but when?

For many, Wilson Fisk - better known to comic book fans as The Kingpin - is the best villain the Marvel Cinematic Universe has produced so far, and with good reason. Vincent D'Onofrio's terrific performance as the Marvel baddie was the highlight of Daredevil's first season, and even though he had a reduced role in season two he still had a couple of memorable scenes (Matt's ill-advised visit to Fisk in prison is arguably the best scene of the season).

When last we saw Fisk he may have just begun to figure out that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, which makes his inevitable return that much more exciting. But when exactly will he be back?

"I do know", D'Onofrio revealed to Lation Review Media, "but I can’t answer… so take that how you will".

"Marvel, the company, and especially Jeph Loeb, who runs Marvel Television, he’s a clever dude", D'Onofrio continued. "All those people over there are pretty clever and they love talent. There’s no giant commitment for me at Daredevil. Like I didn’t have to sign my life away at all. When Jeff tells me there’s something coming up and if I’m available, I’ll be there. And because it’s written so well, I’m going to show up. I’m going to do everything I can because the writing is so good".

D'Onofrio's re-appearance at the end of the eighth episode of Daredevil's second season made for a fantastic and effective surprise - the episode even made sure to not include his 'special guest star' credit until after the hour had concluded - so we can probably expect something similar for whenever he's scheduled to come back.

As for when that might be, while there's a slight chance that Fisk will show up in The Defenders I'm inclined to think that Kingpin won't re-emerge until Daredevil season 3. Time will tell.
