Viewtiful Joe 2: Game details and first shots

Capcom have dished out some juicy game info and screenshots of the follow-up to the superb Viewtiful Joe. The game will be released for Gamecube and PS2 and we expect Viewtiful Joe 2 to be every bit as much fun as the original.

The game will feature more stages and additional VFX special moves but the main news is that you will now also be able to play as Joe's girlfriend Sylvia from the start. You can check her out in action in the screens to the right. Yep, that's her in the turquoise latex. In the first game you could play as Sylvia once you had beaten the game but now she can be yours from the off - and with a new gun to boot.

A new VFX for your characters comes in the shape of Replay, which allows you to record on-screen action and then replay it to multiply the damage threefold. It can also be used to multiply your strength when used in conjunction with scoffing down a hamburger (the game's health pick-ups). There is a trade-off, however: make a mistake when in Replay mode and, you guessed it, three times the damage to your character is the penalty you'll pay. Ouch.

Viewtiful Joe 2 will be released for both PS2 and Gamecube although an on-sale date has yet to be confirmed
