Destiny DLC headed to Mercury... and 45 other hot rumors this week
N64 games finally headed to Wii U Virtual Console
The Rumor: The official Nintendo website has N64 fans all excited over the prospect of playing their old favorites in glorious HD (without the help of naughty homebrew emulators, of course) via the Wii U. A short, annoyingly vague message posted to the site's Virtual Console page reads: "Tip: Check back regularly for the latest releases, including the future addition of titles from the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 systems." Nintendo is yet to offer any firm details on N64 VC releases.
Our Take: This is certainly exciting for anyone with a soft spot for Nintendo's lovable 64-bit machine, and serves as at least a mild hint that N64 may be coming to Wii U sooner rather than later. Maybe even this year, if we're lucky. So far, Wii U's VC has focused on NES and SNES releases, with GBA games only recently added.
Titanfall 2 in planning stages, coming to PS4
The Rumor: Respawn Entertainment is already at work on a sequel to its recent new shooter, Titanfall, and the follow-up wont be Xbox One exclusive. According to WSJ, citing a person close to the development effort, Titanfall 2 is already in the planning stages, and will be heading to PS4 as multi platform publishing rights falls to EA.
Our Take: Although Titanfall 2 hasn't been specifically announced, EA has already confirmed that it has signed an extended agreement with Respawn to publish "new Titanfall experiences" that are in the works. And it has been widely rumored that the sequel will not be tied to the Microsoft machine, with a multi-format release expected. We reckon its just a matter of time.
Titanfall dev working on new third-person action game
The Rumor: Mounting evidence suggests that Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind first-person shooter Titanfall, may be working on a new third-person action game. Earlier in June it was confirmed that Stig Asmussen, who served as game director on God of War 3 at Sony Santa Monica, has joined Respawn as a game director. Asmussen has said hes not working on Titanfall. This was followed by a number of job listings for the studio which call for a senior animator and senior character artist with experience "working on 3rd person action/exploration games".
Our Take: Something certainly seems to be going on. Respawn has a number of staff on board who previously worked on the God of War series aside from Asmussen. Titanfall looks set to be a hit franchise for the studio, but its totally plausible that the creatives in that house are cooking up more than one dish.
Man mentions Half-Life 3, ignites that rumor again
The Rumor: It's the rumor that will never, ever die. Half-Life 3 is, Counter-Strike creator Minh 'Gooseman' Le, a thing that is real, and "looks great". Le said Left 4 Dead 3 is also in development, suggesting that Valve's work on the two unannounced titles is somehow common knowledge. "And so if I were to say that yeah, I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news to be honest," he said, speaking to GoRgnTV.

Our Take: Yes it would, Mr. Le. Yes it would be big news. How someone could be so oblivious to the hype that surrounds the possible existence (or not) of Half-Life 3 is beyond us. If what Le says is accurate though, it'll be the strongest indication of the game's development in years, and at a least one small reason to keep your ear to the ground. We mean, don't bet your house on it, but one can dream...
God of War Ascension could get a PS4 port
The rumor: The rumor, and this is very rumory, is that God of War Ascension is getting a re-release on PS4. This comes from apparent video game Nostradamus Shinobi602, who tweeted, tersely, GOW Ascensions coming to PS4. There were talks originally of it making a show at E3, which didn't happen, but that's necessarily the end of the line for this rumor.
Our take: The Last of Uss imminent PS4 re-release lends credence to this rumor, but it would be slightly less puzzling if the supposed package were to include more than just Ascension. Every God of War game (including the PSP titles) actually exists on the PS3. So why just port Ascension? It doesnt quite add up. Lets call this one half-probable.
Dino Crisis reboot in development
The Rumor: Capcom is reportedly working on a reboot of its classic PSone horror series, Dino Crisis. According to a rumor via OXM UK, the reboot is set to be revealed later this year. There was no indication of which platforms it would appear for, or whether it may be a remake or a new game entirely.
Our Take: This rumor has been rumbling around in the background for over a year and nothing has showed up. But the whispers are persistent - perhaps if only because there are so many that want it to be a real thing. Nothing was said at E3. Fingers crossed for TGS, then...
Halo 5 could be open-world
The Rumor: Microsoft Studio 343 Industries played it safe with Halo 4, its debut Halo title after inheriting the series from Bungie. With that having gone down well, however, it is said to be going far bolder with its second foray. According to reports, Halo 5 will be more open world than previous entries in the series.
Our Take: Microsoft has given us a few new details about the project, now dubbed Halo 5: Guardians. Namely, its officially out in 2015 and it involves a new Spartan. The firm is yet to reveal any real information on the gameplay, however, so well have to wait until later in the year for that. Our guess? The new hardware, new engine, and new naming scheme suggests 343 might be heading in a new gameplay direction as well.
