Valve opens latest Team Fortress 2 beta to the public
Test drive new features and gameplay variations in opt-in beta
Valve is giving players a chance to tinker around with potential Team Fortress 2 changes in its latest, opt-in public beta. Just a few months after its closed beta for TF2 clans, Valve is opening up its virtual doors for TF2 owners with access to Steam who want to help the developer test drive a number of new features and gameplay variations.
%26ldquo;As you've probably seen by now, we like to change things in Team Fortress 2. A lot. And while we're perfect most of the time, we occasionally get something wrong,%26rdquo; reads the announcement onTF2's blog.
%26ldquo;So to help us change TF2 even more frequently, we're pleased to announce the Team Fortress 2 (public) Beta.%26rdquo;
According to the blog, participants will be "testing and tuning various class, item, and weapon changes," "Running higher level, game-wide experiments (like doubling player health)," and "Testing new technologies without the risk of breaking the game." Valve will also be using the public beta to fine-tune variations of its level 5 minigun, Natascha, as well as some map variants and gameplay balance issues.
The beta appears to be for PC players only, as it involves downloading a separate beta-build from via Steam, which is accessibleby opening the Library and clicking 'Team Fortress 2 Beta.' Participants are asked to share their comments in theTF2 forums.
