Valve not involved with Piston Steam Box
Two companies went no further than "some exploratory work"
Valve has cleared up its relationship (or lack thereof) with hardware manufacturer Xi3 and Piston. Valve invested in Xi3's designs for the "Steam Box" and the two companies collaborated for a time, but that's all.
"Valve began some exploratory work with Xi3 last year, but currently has no involvement in any product of theirs," Valve director of marketing Doug Lombardi told Eurogamer.
This comes a day after Xi3 revealed the Big-Picture-mode-optimized living room PC's pricing will begin at $1,000--prompting some quizzical responses, to the say the least, within our comments section and abroad.
Valve intends to design and manufacture its own Steam Box, though it sounds like the developer has more elaborate plans than simply running its service in a smaller physical package.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
