Unheard-of game rips off Oblivion, Thief, Silent Hill and more

Ever heard ofLimbo of the Lost? Yeah, neither have we - butapparently, this little point-and-click adventure lifted levels straight out ofBethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and several other high profile games (like Diablo, Unreal Tournament 2004, Silent Hill, Pain Killer and even The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind). Check out photographic evidencehereandhere.

Today, Limbo publisher Tri Synergy has responded to the allegations in a statement:

"Tri Synergy is just as shocked as everyone else is by the recent screenshot comparisons," the company said. "At no point during our dealings with Majestic Studios up until the point that the comparison was first publicly made by a third party did we have any knowledge of these similarities. Additionally, Tri Synergy will discontinue distribution of Limbo of the Lost in both retail and online outlets.

"We have contacted the developer, Majestic, and are anxiously awaiting their response. As soon as we know more on this matter we will issue another statement."

This is what we call "passing the buck," kids. Take note.

A Bethesda representative has confirmed that its legal team is "looking into" the matter. Publishers of the other games named above have yet to comment.
