UFC 2 patch adds Stockton Slap, two new fighters & other goodness

The 'bantz'-tastic Stockton Slap, popularised by brothers Nick and Nate Diaz, has been added to UFC 2 – as part of a new patch which also includes two new fighters and various fight engine and Ultimate Team tweaks.

Fans have pushed strongly for the move’s inclusion after Nate Diaz slapped opponent Conor McGregor on four separate occasions en route to a shock UFC 196 victory last month – and, to their credit, EA has delivered. You can see the move in-game here:

The new fighters are Patrick Cote and Louis Smolka. Canadian Cote has a 10-9 UFC record across three weight divisions (as well as a single loss as a pro boxer), while Hawaiian Smolka only has 11 MMA fights to has name, but he’s been defeated just once – by Chris Cariaso on a split decision, back in May 2014.

Other gameplay changes include an increased risk level of body damage when swaying away from an opponent, improved AI submission logic, tweaks to the blocking and parry systems, and tuned damage to uppercut combos.

In Ultimate Team, you can now exchange five items in your Collection for a brand new higher-level item, edit your fighter’s appearance at any time, and see a display of the winning move plus your and your opponent’s best moves in the post-fight menu.

A full list of changes is available on the official UFC 2 site.

UFC 2 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
