Ubisoft jumps on the Steam bandwagon
Far Cry and Splinter Cell available at a discount with Assassin's Creed on the way
Valve Software will be offering over 40 Ubisoft PC titles on its Steam digital distribution platform in Canada and the US, with Assassin's Creed headlining the lineup.
The addition of the Ubisoft titles is yet another key step in expanding the Steam community and distribution network. Valve said that Ubisoft's Steam lineup will be the largest library of titles from any single publisher or developer on the service.
Already, many major publishers including THQ, Activision, Take-Two, Capcom, Sega, Codemasters, Eidos and others have products available on Steam.
Valve said that Ubisoft's first-person shooter Far Cry and the original Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell are immediately available at a 10 percent discount until April 8.
Steam is also accepting pre-orders for the PC version of Assassin's Creed, which launches April 9.
Valve will add additional Ubisoft titles over the coming weeks, including more Tom Clancy-branded games, Heroes of Might & Magic titles, the IL-2 Sturmovik collection and others.
