Two more top authors announced for the SFX Weekender

As excitement continues to build for the unique SFX Weekender , we're pleased to make yet another announcement about guests! Two best-selling novelists will be joining the actors and writers we've already revealed.

Dan Abnett

Abnett is a best-selling author most famous for his books set in the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 universes. Born in 1965, Abnett studied at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, and has worked on a number of comics - 2000 AD, Dark Horse, Marvel and DC - as well as his books for Games Workshop's Black Library. They include the Gaunt's Ghosts series and recently the first in the Horus Heresy series, the hugely popular "Horus Rising". Further adding to our Torchwood-themed line-up at the Weekender, Abnett also wrote a novel set in the Torchwood universe called Border Princes in 2007. This year he's set to release his first original fiction novels through the new Angry Robot imprint.

[Note: due to health reasons Dan Abnett will no longer be able to attend the SFX Weekender]

Richard Morgan

With six novels and two graphic novels to his name so far, Richard Morgan has made a great impact on the science fiction scene with his Takeshi Kovacs stories. Born in 1965, Morgan studied history at Queens' College, Cambridge and published his first novel (Altered Carbon) in 2002. SFX was proud to present him with the Arthur C Clarke Award for science fiction in 2008 which he won for Black Man (released as Thirteen in the US), and now he's switched to fantasy with a trilogy begun last year with The Steel Remains.
