Two new X-Men: First Class Posters arrive online

X-Men: First Class hasn't had the greatest track record for promo art.

First off, an unofficial group shot was leaked before it was ready, leading to fanboy uproar and studio disgruntlement.

Those were followed by some fantastically moody posters for Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), with subtle hints at their characters' futures.

That good work was then undone by the 'floating heads over silhouettes' travesty, which looked like they were done as some sort of primary school art project.

The new posters occupy the middle area between the previous highs and lows of X -promos. They're not as ghastly as the the dreaded 'silhouettes', but they're still fairly bland.

Why do the mutants seem to have such a problem with walking naturally? Reservoir Dogs they ain't!

If it wasn't for the very promising trailer, and the dream team of talent involved, you could be forgiven for being a little nervous about the comic-book prequel.

X-Men: First Class opens on 2 June 2011.
