Turtle Beach's new Stealth Pro is the best wireless headset it's ever created
It's been a little while since Turtle Beach released a premium headset, but that's because it's been working hard on a brand-new, wireless headset. Meet the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, the company's newest model that it's dubbed the New King of Wireless, and it's easy to see why when you dive into precisely what they've created here.
This flagship headset boasts 50mm Nanoclear drivers for delivering a high-end audio experience with better low-level bass quality. This, coupled with the Superhuman Hearing feature, will give you the edge when it comes to hearing approaching footsteps and appreciating the full gamut of your in-game audio experience.
What we love about the Stealth Pro is that, unlike other premium headsets of this caliber, no chunky DAC sits on your desk and retains so many of the top audio features when you're out and about. Instead, all the great features, such as Active Noise Cancelling, are all built into the headset itself, ensuring you can game wherever you want to, whether that's on PC, console, or mobile. There is a small lag-free 2.4 GHz receiver, but it handily doubles up as a battery charger so you can constantly keep one of the two batteries the Stealth Pro comes with powered up and ready for switching. It's a really neat addition that we've not seen from other wireless headsets on the market. Each battery gives you around 12 hours of power, and you'll get another three with just 15 minutes of charging time.
To take advantage of all that on-board tech, Turtle Beach has designed a special app to let you tweak EQ settings, mic sensitivity, noise monitoring, and more on the go. Available on Android, iOS, PC and Mac, you'll be able to make sure you're getting the best audio for different game genres, play on console or mobile, and also get the best from your music or movies wherever you are. The boom mic, which features TruSpeak noise-cancelling technology, is also removable so you can use the Stealth Pro whenever you want to, without looking like a gamer out of their natural habitat. Handily, the headset has other built-in noise-cancelling mics so you can still chat with your pals and take calls on the go.
This is an elegantly designed headset too, with a leatherette finish over its memory foam cushions, and Turtle Beach's patented ProSpecs design for allowing comfortable wear even with thick-framed glasses. The headset itself has a wheel dial and mode button on one earcup, both of which are remappable to allow for customized functions based on whatever you need for daily use. The function buttons, like the Bluetooth toggle, also have distinct textures so you can know what you're pressing while you're wearing the Stealth Pro. No fumbling about trying to find the power button with this wireless wonder.
Turtle Beach has always had a strong history of creating excellent headsets, and with the new Stealth Pro, it's bettering what's come before and is ready to take on rivals like the SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless and the Astro A50.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is available from April 23 and will retail for £279.99 / $329.99.
