Triple H laughs off Bret Hart’s WWE 2K16 ratings rant
Last week, legendary wrestler Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart went on an astonishing (and hilarious) rant about his ratings in WWE 2K16, furious at the fact that his character last year had been rated lower than long-time real-life rival Triple H’s.
In an interview with 12DOVE and selected other journalists on Wednesday, the latter had his chance to respond – but it transpired that he hadn’t been aware of the Hitman’s rant.
“A couple of days ago, Bret Hart said he took offense that your rating in WWE 2K was higher than his,” explained a journalist from Fox News.
“Uh, I had not heard that. So, I’m sorry”, replied Triple H through mild laughter. “There’s a report that somebody was upset that their video game ranking was lower than mine? Uh, to be honest I don’t even know how that [deciding upon in-game ratings] works.”
He did, however, admit that those wrestlers who grew up playing video games might see their rivalries extend to video game ratings:
“I see guys arguing about stuff all the time in the locker room. And video game rankings would probably be part of that. They’re very competitive with each other in a lot of ways, and I’m sure they’re competitive playing this game like they are so many others. It wouldn’t surprise me.”
The interview was held to announce the NXT Edition of WWE 2K17, which adds Shinsuke Nakamura, Apollo Crews and Nia Jax to the in-game roster.
As we revealed yesterday, it looks like Bayley and Asuka are in the game too.
WWE 2K17 is released for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on 11 October.
