Wednesday, July 17: We saw the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon appear briefly for £201 less at Amazon with a Prime Day label attached yesterday, but then the discount evaporated and it returned to the price it had earlier this week. Aside from being annoying, I've seen this happen with another kit as well... which makes me wonder if the discount is being held back until later on (which is sneaky on Amazon's part no matter how you slice it). That's not guaranteed by any means, but I'd camp on that listing and refresh often just in case. And if the set doesn't make a grand reappearance by the end of the sale tonight, be sure not to miss Zavvi's offer. It's not quite as good, but is still much better than normal.
Fortunately, the smaller and more affordable versions of Lego Millennium Falcon do have Prime Day savings available. The latest kit is currently sitting at an impressive £56.98 at Amazon rather than £75, while the mid-range Rise of Skywalker set is £95.19 via Amazon (down from £150). Although I appreciate that these aren't as jaw-dropping as the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon, they're still phenomenal kits that I'd heartily recommend at that massively reduced price.
The Lego UCS Millennium Falcon kit, AKA one of the most popular and highly-desired Lego sets out there, just got hit with a massive price cut. In the immortal words of Lando Calrissian, "hello, what have we here?"
You can pick up the set for £533.89 at Amazon rather than £734.99, which is a saving of £201 overall and is just a pound off the kit's lowest ever price. Considering how rarely it reaches that record low, this saving is more than a little noteworthy. Meanwhile, US shoppers can grab it for a helpful but slightly less eyebrow-raising $799.99 at Zavvi instead of $849.99. While that's only a $50 reduction in the latter's case, it's the first real saving on the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon in weeks.
This isn't the only Falcon enjoying a bargain either. The newer, smaller Lego Millennium Falcon kit is currently £56.98 at Amazon rather than the usual £74.99 (literally a few pence off its lowest ever price). Similarly, the mid-range Rise of Skywalker Falcon is also a stone's throw away from a record low at £95.19 via Amazon instead of £150. In other words, you've got options if you don't fancy dropping hundreds on the bigger version.
No matter what, this bodes well for 2024's Prime Day Lego deals - the sale is bringing its A-game, which it often holds back for Black Friday.

Should you buy the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon?
Seeing as 'Lego Millennium Falcon' is one of the most searched terms during sale season where Lego is concerned (at least according to my research), there's clearly no shortage of interest in it. And that's fair enough. While each version is impressive enough, the Ultimate Collector Series model has them all beat. This enormous kit weighs in at over 7,500 pieces and is comfortably one of the biggest and best Lego sets ever made. That leaves a lot of room for detail, and Lego has made the most of it with a jam-packed interior, numerous minifigures from across the saga, and a hodge-podge chassis which nails the ship's cobbled-together feel. It's exactly what a Star Wars fan would want from a Lego Millennium Falcon. As we said in our Lego UCS Millennium Falcon review, "it’s difficult to imagine a Lego version of this ship looking any better."
All that makes for a pretty jaw-dropping result, and the model will dominate any space - or conversation - it's a part of. However, that is admittedly a double-edged sword. If you don't have lots of room at home, finding a way to display this monster can be tricky. It's not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it is something to keep in mind.
I can't avoid talking about the price, either. Even with a discount, this is a very expensive set. If you're happy with the smaller, cheaper versions, it's difficult to recommend the UCS kit over them.
Still, I'd argue that this is amongst the best Lego Star Wars sets - it's somewhat legendary in its scope and ambition. Because it might be retired in the not so distant future, it's also in its twilight years.
