Tower of Fantasy 2.0 Vera update adds catalog of characters, challenges, regions and more

Tower of Fantasy is bigger, bolder and better than it's ever been. Not that Hotta Studio and Level Infinite's free-to-play shared open-world RPG has ever been short on content – with its epic battles, vast library of weapons, and huge cast of heroes, each with their own unique fighting style and backstory – but the anime-infused sci-fi adventure's 2.0 Vera update takes things to a whole other level. It's out now on Steam, and brings with it new challenges to overcome, characters to control, regions to explore, world bosses to battle, and so much more.

Let's start with Desert Vera. Covered in quicksand and governed by sandstorms, this irradiated wilderness ain't for the faint of heart. Add red-flame lizards, horror beasts, and hulking sandworms into the mix, not to mention a handful of brain-busting environmental puzzles, and, yikes, you best come prepared. On the off-chance that isn't enough, Magma marks Desert Vera’s world boss – a huge, intimidating, and downright terrifying crocodile-like killing machine that was built by forces in the neighbouring city of Mirroria. Magma is covered in hardened scales, and uses wind and sand in defence and attack with devastating results. Brains and brawn are a must for even the bravest of adventurers here.

In neighbouring Mirroria, the Vera update's second new locale, players can visit a number of cyberpunk hotspots by subway, including the Archives, the Mirafleur Hotel, and the Oasis Club, each of which is packed with friendly quest-offering NPCs. Less welcoming, however, is Mirroria's endgame boss, The Pupper Singer, who unleashes wind blades and dash attacks. Here, perseverance is key – because The Puppet Singer often drops high-quality equipment (with volt or physical stats) upon death. Best of luck to you.

Fortune favors the brave

To make matters worse in Desert Vera , Magma isn't the only threat to survival. Rudolph, a moose-meets-reindeer-like creature is known to ram and trample anything that stands in its way; while Greyspace Fissures will transport players a new and horrific zone that's brimming with some of Vera's highest-level foes, the Greyspace Entities, which include Abyssant Weavers and Devourers. This new endgame challenge will put players to the ultimate test, but success will yield high-quality gear – by way of Potent Omnium and Gold Nucleus crystals, and more – for those who're up to it.

With new characters, raids, instances, missions, gear, and, of course, the sprawling Vera map itself – aka 'The Land of Sand' – Tower of Fantasy is at the peak of its powers. Head over to its Steam page now, and play completely free-of-charge!
