Total Film rolls out red carpet for NFTS 2015 Gala

The National Film and Television School is the gift that keeps on giving. Past NFTS graduates have brought us James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and all sorts of iconic characters filling up your DVD shelves. And with an exciting batch of young graduates each year, the NFTS is also responsible for creating the next generation of superstar film figures.

This is why us here at Total Film and 12DOVE are thrilled to be partnering with NFTS for their annual fundraising Gala. Along with GamesIndustry.biz, we will be media partners for their hotly anticipated red carpet bash, which this year takes place on Tuesday 2 June in London.

The NFTS Gala traditionally attracts key industry figures and talent from around the world, all eager to meet new faces and celebrate tomorrow’s stars. This year’s event, sponsored by Ingenious, promises to be bigger than ever.

Total Film has always enjoyed working with the NFTS,” says David Bradley, Group Editor-in-Chief of Total Film, “and so this year we're especially proud to be the media partner of the thrilling red carpet Gala in June. As one of the biggest film magazines in the world it's our duty to encourage and support new and emerging talent and we've been honoured to help out at the School's BFI Film Academy in recent years.

“We're always impressed with the work done by the NFTS to encourage young filmmakers and the gala event promises to be a superb celebration of that, something we're looking forward to immensely.”

As media partners of the BFI’s Film Academy run by the NFTS, Total Film and 12DOVE are especially supportive of a school whose students have been nominated for more Oscars and BAFTAS than any other institution. NFTS, named “number one international film school” by The Hollywood Reporter, sees 94% (that’s a lot) of its graduates enter creative industries – not just film and television, but also the expanding world of videogames.

In terms of gaming, numerous NFTS graduates from the Games Design and Development MA have already made a name for themselves – picking up the Develop Indie Showcase People’s Choice Award, earning funding from The Wellcome Trust to create a game, and, in the case of another student, being chosen by Sony (SCEE) to work on the virtual reality tool Morpheus.
