6 DEBBIE HARRY
Best SF performance: Nicki Brand in Videodrome
Pop fame: Lead singer of Blondie
SF fame: Played masochistic radio phone-in host Nikki Brand in David Cronenberg’s Videodrome, who may or may not all be a figment of Max (James Wood) Renn’s imagination. Although it’s not the most demanding role in the world, Harry is perfect in the role – sexual provocation oozes from her every pore, a predatory supernatural force in a red dress. Weird highlight: the bit where she languorously stubs out a cigarette on her breast.
Harry’s also appeared in the pilot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, anthology shows Monsters and Tales from the Darkside, the Tales from the Darkside movie, and horror anthology film Body Bags.
