Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD should cost about $15 in summer 2012

Tony Hawk: Ride and Shred were big enough bombs to help virtually kill the plastic peripheral craze. But despite all seeming lost for Tony Hawk and his long-running series, it’s getting another shot at life with the tried and true remake. Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD was announced this weekend, and now some new details have been released for the HD upgrade, including the price… sort of…

Activision’s press release for Tony Hawk’s HD adventure got the important details out of the way, including the tentative summer release date next year, and the price, which was described as “about $15.” We hope this actually means $15 will be the price, as that seems pretty fair for redone stages from two of our favorite games of all time. Though if “about $15” magically became “actually $20,” we’d probably still pay anyway.

Other specifics include revealing that the HD development is being handled by Robomodo (Tony Hawk: Ride), not Neversoft as some may have assumed. Activision didn’t spell out exactly what systems it will come to, mentioning the “game will be available only on leading consoles,” and that it would take advantage of online features the original Pro Skater’s never could. Sadly no word on how much of the original soundtracks to Tony Hawk 1 and 2 will be included, but we doubt the developers forgot how important that music was to the series.
