Toni Collette re-teaming with Muriel director for Mental
PJ Hogan directing family drama
Toni Collette is reuniting with director PJ Hogan for Australian drama Mental .
The pair of Aussies both hit the big time back in 1994 when they made Muriel’s Wedding together, which went on to become an international hit.
The film launched Collette’s career, with the actress going on to star in The Sixth Sense and About A Boy among others.
Mental , which is being written by Hogan, will follow a family and their “crazy but charismatic nanny”, according to Variety .
Next up for Collette is the remake of Fright Night , in which she plays the mother of a teenager (Anton Yelchin) who discovers that their charismatic new neighbour (Colin Farrell) is a vampire.
It’s good to see that Collette’s moving forward after the recent cancellation of her much-loved TV series, United States Of Tar a . And with a title like Mental , her new film sounds like an intriguing consolation prize for fans of the show.
Fright Night opens 2 September 2011.
