Tomb Raider: Anniversary - Day three

The two biggest changes we made in Egypt were in the big open areas where you first enter Egypt and there's a small sphinx and the obelisk there - that space in the original was sort of a hotchpotch of all these different things crammed into one area. You have a little sphinx, these giant doors, an area over here where you can swim... and an obelisk... everything is laid out and crammed into one area and there wasn't really any sort of unifying theme for the area and it didn't seem architecturally really believable, so we kept all of the elements that were there and then we spatially laid them out in a way that made more sense around being like the real Egyptian culture and how they laid out the designs for their environments and what-not and just made it feel more grounded in a realistic environment.

How long do you think it will take the average gamer to complete the Egypt level?

Playing through it - and I know what to do - it takes me more than three hours to get through it. And I'm rushing and not collecting anything and I know how to get through it all... I think it takes most people around 5-6 hours to get through - it's pretty long.

So that's just one level - how long is the full game going to be? 30+ hours?

We're estimating right now it's probably going to be around 15 hours of gameplay. It's definitely longer than Legend was. I mean, the original TR1 took forever to play through - you had to deal with the fact that Lara moved a lot slower and the save system wasn't as convenient as ours is, so it's definitely not going to be as long as the original. But more than Legend, probably around the 15 hour mark.
