Tom Cruises Luna Park finally finds a writer in Jason Fuchs

Tom Cruise’s latest sci-fi adventure Luna Park has finally secured a writer and it’s none other than Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs. Fuchs also wrote this year’s fantasy flop Pan and the far more successful Ice Age: Continental Drift a few years ago, so he’s got experience, but the jury’s still out on whether he can pen a decent screenplay.

According to Variety, Paramount hope to fast-track Fuchs’ script and get it filmed before Cruise's next Mission: Impossible, but with the actor as busy as ever, it’ll have to happen quickly or risk never seeing the light of day. Currently, Cruise is filming Jack Reacher sequel Never Go Back, with Luna Park intended to squeeze into the period between finishing that and starting the sixth M:I next summer. Phew, it's going to be a ridiculously busy 12 months for the star!

Luna Park is about a group of former space workers who, after going rogue, journey to the moon to steal a valuable energy resource. The project looks right up Cruise’s street, after brilliant roles in both Edge of Tomorrow and Oblivion; it could add another notch on his sci-fi belt that also includes Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report.

And if you're thinking the ageing Top Gun actor is too ‘passed it’ for another sci-fi adventure, just look at the death-defying stunts he still does for Mission: Impossible. Directed by Edge of Tomorrow's Doug Liman and starring Cruise, a release date is yet to be confirmed for Luna Park.
