Tom Cruise signs on for Mission: Impossible 5
He’ll produce and star
Tom Cruise is set to put his body through another series of death-defying stunts after officially signing on to return as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible 5 .
Deadline reports that Cruise has signed a deal to star and produce in the next installment of the hi-octane franchise, with a director to be announced in due course.
Word is that Cruise’s Jack Reacher collaborator Christopher McQuarrie is in Paramount’s crosshairs to helm the fifth film, although no official announcement has been made as yet.
The last film wowed audiences with some of the series’ most dizzying stunts to date, and Cruise and co. will have to go some to top the Burj Khalifa sequence for sheer spectacle.
Still, we’re sure the old daredevil will enjoy himself trying. And with the last film pulling in nearly $700m worldwide, there’s plenty of incentive for him to get it right…
