Tobey Maguire works out The Details
He’s signed on to the black comedy
Before he commits to more months in the Spider-suit, Tobey Maguire has signed on to star in black comedy The Details.
The twisted suburban indie will see him married to Elizabeth Banks as the pair struggle with infidelity and boredom.
But when a family of hungry racoons start to dig up their lives, it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back and their ever-more desperate schemes to rid themselves of the critter infestation leads them down a chain reaction of mishaps.
Including, apparently, murder via bow and arrow.
Maguire is replacing James McAvoy, who had to ditch the lead due to scheduling issues. The cast also includes Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert, Anna Friel and Laura Linney.
Mean Creek helmer Jacob Estes is directing the pic, which kicks off shooting in August.
"Maguire's character is an everyman in the sense that he is composed of a morally ambiguous core," Estes tells Variety. "He has good intentions, but he makes a lot of self-destructive mistakes."

Always remember kids: raccoons shouldn’t be a reason for divorce. Or murder.
