Tina Fey and Amy Poehler make fun of Star Wars with Sisters spoof
Spoilerific TV spots notwithstanding, it's safe to say that the marketing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is something that more studios should pay attention to (here's looking at you and your far too revealing Batman v Superman trailer Warner Bros).
Part of that campaign was a behind-the-scenes reel that was unveiled at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and forms the basis of a hilarious spoof by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for their new comedy Sisters - which has the unenviable challenge of being released on the same day as The Force Awakens. Check it out below...
More than being a great promo for Sisters - the English accents are particularly funny - it's also a great way of embracing their status as counter-programming to the behemoth that will be Star Wars and cannily reminds audiences that #youcanseethemboth. Whether it will actually translate into a bigger box office remains to be seen, but we love it!
Starring Fey, Poehler, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin, Sisters is released in UK cinemas on December 12 2015 before opening in US theatres on December 18. May the farce be with you.
