TimeSplitters dev making Homefront sequel. Warmongering Korean monkeys so far unconfirmed

So, a double kick in the stones for original Homefront dev Kaos Studios then. Not only was it shut down by publisher THQ following the release of the first game (despite decent sales), the franchise it kickstarted is now officially going ahead without it. Yup Homefront 2 (proper title currently unconfirmed) is on the way, and in a somewhat left-field turn of events, it's coming from Crytek.

Though more specifically, it's coming from Crytek UK. ie. the new name for Free Radical Design. ie. the new name for the developer of TimeSplitters. A surreal, eccentrically British take on a brutal Korean invasion this time then? It's doubtful, but we can but hope...

Extra details? There aren't any. We were sent a tiny, tiny Q&A sheet with the announcement, but frankly it's so tiny that it confirms little more than the fact that the game exists. Which makes it kind of redundant, as if the game didn't exist, there would be no need for a Q&A.

We do know that the game (whatever it ends up being called) is scheduled for a release in Financial Year 2014, a schedule which will probably see part three of the near-future war epic actually set in the past. So, feelings on this one? Personally I'm happy for Crytek UK to be working on any full project of their own, but I am also sad beyond sad that this probably means TimeSplitters 4 is off the slate for a good long while.

Cross everything that I'm wrong about that last point, friends. Cross everything.
